my job

The avid blogger took a long sabbatical and is not back..... most of you who check my blog (counts with fingers on 1 hand) would know thats not true.. but ive been terribly busy with work. This is my first official job. It is tiring and it is pretty mundane. The completion of the task seems so far away. Basically i am an underpaid "Ku Lei".. translated from Cantonese means slave.. what type? Describing my job would be a bore because you would not be able to see my expression and enthusiasm while insulting it but my goal is to get 700+ people to register for the worlds biggest ICT congress WCIT 2008.. of coz that is not possible.. after 3 days and 223 companies contacted, about nearly 400 calls later, i only got about 25 registration confirmed and about 35 confirmed NOes. Hmm... the 1st day was boring shit.. i had to arrange stuff and clear things.. i slept in my bosses office when he was out.. lol.. came home n complain how boring it was.

day 2..
GOt my laptop and task laid b4 me. Design registration form and mass mail it to all 700+ ppl! luckily, email server was down so after getting the form done, i chatted with cass and all. I also tried to play some games from www.mofunzone.com

day 3.. overcome fear, trying to advertise some big thing to big bosses of big companies without sufficient knowledge in it. The 1st call, i pick up and put the phone down about 3 times before dialing, trying to thing of what to say, reading up on the same email my company sent to these "clients". Abit choppy, but wasnt too bad. After the 5th call, i was on autodrive. i made about 100 calls and called about 60+ people. yes, same conversation.. basically i said "Good morning/afternoon/evening, Im michael from _____ calling, can i speak to mr. ___,: from here goes :
a) Oh he's not in? how can i contact him
b) Oh he's resigned? who is the new ____(post) or who replaced him?<--rude.. humans are replaceable.. we are all unique..... lol... c) etc... i made about 5-6 hours of calls.. Day 4 PURE CALLING.. nearly 7+ hours.. boring day. except for the epic stress of nearly having to pay RM25 for parking. Those who know me, paying RM25 for parking is like getting molested, in this case, by East Inn hotel. Somebody saved my life, but thats a story for another time. Probably more interesting than this "my job" post. Basically i found a way to scam the hotel but it backfired and i was depressed for 1/2 the day. thats why i kept makingg calls to get my mind of it. Day 5 Pre-raya, boss went home about 2.30. OMG the whole office lepaked. the lady behind me made personal calls. people started hanging out. "when the slave driver is not in, the slaves come out to play" also talked about madonna's book called "sex"... which is banned here. 1st time i heard of it. thats why im bloggging now.. too much time... i wanna leave early.. byeee.. all those who still check my blog after months of inactivity.. i salute you. i will buy u ice cream. YES BASKIN ROBINSONS!!!! :p
